Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC) in Grafton, Wisconsin, is a well-established 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital dedicated to providing compassionate medical care to the dogs and cats entrusted to our care. Our team consists of emergency veterinarians, highly skilled technicians, and knowledgeable client care coordinators. We are looking for a Hospital Manager who will put his/her outstanding leadership skills to great use overseeing an emergency and specialty veterinary hospital. This position offers the chance to make an immediate and lasting impact on staff, clients, and patients while at the same time being part of our national network of veterinary hospitals across the country. The Hospital Manager is a leader and an integral member of the hospital management team. The Hospital Manager (HM) partners with the Medical Director to provide a smooth and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high quality patient care and exceptional customer service. You'll be the go-to person for driving success in an entrepreneurial environment, partnering with our talented medical team, and reporting directly to Ethos Operational leadership. You'll be the heart of our hospital's operations-leading, motivating, and growing our amazing team, all while making data-driven decisions to ensure both clinical and financial success. The responsibilities of the Hospital Manager include: Accountable for the daily operations of the hospital in support of policies, goals and objectives of the company. Collaborate with Medical Director and regional leadership to develop and implement a strategic plan for the hospital. Partner cross-functionally with support services teams to drive operational excellence and enhance hospital performance. Engage in real-time resource allocation to develop staff schedules (clinical and non-clinical) to assure maximum productivity and service while managing labor against budget. Ensure compliance and accountability for all standard hospital operating procedures as well as full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and all applicable laws governing veterinary business operations. Identify and execute short- and long-term plans for growth, including the addition of new services, recruitment of doctors and other key team members, pricing strategies, space optimization, and acquisitions of new equipment. Participate in the weekly leadership meetings with a solution-oriented and collaborative mindset. Acts as a champion for change and identifies, documents, shares, and promotes best practices. Consciously shapes a positive hospital culture based on trust and teamwork that caters to the needs of our clients and referring veterinarians. Exhibits a calming, humble and teachable attitude whilst having the ability to address decisive change through the hospital. The Hospital Manager must also: Develop and build hospital teams. Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members incorporating the company's vision, mission and core values. Serve as leader and coach for staff with a strong focus on the development of the core leadership team (supervisors) within the hospital. In collaboration with the Medical Director, schedule and participate in timely doctor performance reviews. Ensure appropriate training for all department(s) staff including an exceptional understanding and delivery of customer service and hospitality. Initiate recruitment with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition of approved requisitions and oversee recruitment, interview and hiring for open staff positions and doctors (in collaboration with the Medical Director). Mediates conflict and maintains employee morale. The Hospital Manager is also responsible for: Accountable for client and referring veterinarian satisfaction. Drives client visits through strategic client communication and local marketing efforts (i.e. Community). Trains staff in client service initiatives and uses client visit growth best practices. Demonstrates and reinforces the highest level of client service. Regularly assess the efficient and effective flow of clients and pets through/in the hospital while also ensuring proper care from arrival through discharge and follow-up. The Hospital Manager must also: Responsible for profit and loss (P&L) management of the local hospital with direct influence on how resources are allocated. Evaluate financial and benchmarking information/measurements to ensure best management of the business and achievement of business goals. Participate in the budget process and manage hospital expenses. Ensures payroll is accurately completed and submitted for all hospital staff. Continually drives revenue and manages costs to budget. Work with senior leaders to control all facility and administrative costs. Ensure the calculation and processing of DVM production payments occurs. Candidates will have prior leadership experience and preferably some experience in vetmed. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop employees, be a problem solver, outstanding communicator, and have the ability to maintain a positive working atmosphere that supports an exceptional client experience. Previous experience in hands-on hospital administration experience may help a candidate to be successful in this role.
