Senior Overhead Transmission Engineer - Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering

Kiewit Power Engineers has an immediate opening for a motivated Senior Overhead Transmission Engineer to join our growing Power Delivery team! As part of this team of highly specialized design professionals, you will support a variety of transmission and distribution projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV in both engineering detailed design and Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) projects for clients throughout the country. You will be part of a team that supports all aspects of the project execution process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing final design and deliverables, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to ensure smooth and safe construction operations. This position is based out of one of our offices in Salt Lake City, UT. Relocation is available for well-qualified candidates. Responsibilities include leading a collaborative team to understand client needs, prepare deliverables, and provide project updates; establishing design criteria based on industry, company, and/or client standards; creating and reviewing computer models of overhead electric transmission lines and structures; assembling and reviewing drawings, specifications, and design criteria for the procurement of tubular steel structures, lattice towers, and transmission line hardware; developing and reviewing comprehensive construction packages for internal construction crews and client contractors; providing design oversight and quality reviews for complex drawing packages ensuring client and code requirements are met; driving a culture of design excellence and continuous improvement; advising team on interpretation and/or proper application of codes and standards; being responsible for project contract compliance, quantities, and technical deliverable accuracy; presenting to management, analyzing PLS-CADD reports, formulating design aids, and drafting reports using Microsoft 365; communicating resource needs and ensuring project schedules and budgets are maintained; and visiting construction sites, meeting in client offices, and traveling out of town to tour supplier facilities as required by projects and assignments. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; at least 10 years' experience designing and engineering transmission lines between 69kV and 500kV; a Professional Engineering (PE) License strongly preferred; proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS TOWER; knowledge of MFAD, LPILE, and geotechnical recommendation application for foundation design preferred; knowledge of client and industry standards including NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and RUS; experience leading teams and projects; and experience managing direct reports including approving timesheets, performance appraisals, and resource planning preferred. Working conditions include a fast-paced office environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously managing a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively; regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move objects up to 30 pounds; and travel in the U.S. and internationally (5-15%).
