Illuminate USA is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Senior Trade Compliance Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring that all international trade activities comply with applicable customs regulations, trade laws, and internal policies. This position requires a seasoned professional with demonstrated expertise in import/export operations, U.S. and international trade compliance regulations, customs broker coordination, and international logistics. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting and strengthening our expanding Trade Compliance programensuring that all import and export processes are efficient, legally compliant, and aligned with industry best practices. You'll work cross-functionally with internal teams, brokers, and government agencies to manage classification, documentation, and risk mitigation while driving continuous improvement across compliance operations. Responsibilities:
Classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS); evaluate applicability of Chapter 99 provisions and tariff rate quotas. Review and audit import documentation and Customs entries to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Manage and coordinate ISF filings, import entries, and Temporary Import Bond (TIB) shipments with customs brokers. Support export operations, including AES filing and issuance of required export certificates. Ensure timely receipt of Country of Origin and Country of Smelting Certificates. Assess applicability of anti-dumping and countervailing duties (AD/CVD) in coordination with the Legal Team. Maintain accurate internal entry tracking systems and parts database; ensure brokers receive updated item data for each entry. Coordinate with Logistics and cross-functional teams to obtain complete shipment documentation. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures. Ensure compliance with recordkeeping regulations by managing final customs entry packets. Help respond to CBP requests (CF-28s, CF-29s, UFLPA detentions) and support penalty mitigation efforts. Monitor and issue OGA documentation (e.g., TSCA, Lacey Act) as required. Collaborate with Finance and Treasury to ensure ACH PMS account details are accurate and complete. Interpret and monitor trade regulations and HTS updates. Generate and analyze ACE reports. Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure complete, timely submissions and review weekly entry reports. Support special projects in collaboration with the Legal Team and outside counsel. Assist with preparations for the company's future C-TPAT application. Provide clear, professional communication across internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications:
Licensed Customs Broker (preferred). Minimum of 5 years of experience in trade compliance, international logistics, or related field. Proficient in Microsoft Excel; strong analytical and reporting skills. Experience with Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). Knowledge of AD/CVD regulations and experience determining product scope applicability. Experience with ERP and TMS. Familiarity with C-TPAT, Free Trade Zones, and U.S. import/export regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Position is remote, based in Pataskala, Ohio. Candidate must be able to travel to the Columbus/Pataskala, Ohio office 12 times per month for in-person meetings. Relocation assistance is not provided.
