Director Of The Office Of Regional Development

The Director of the Office of Regional Development is a key member of the Mayor's Cabinet and will drive high-level policy decisions and oversee a variety of County offices and initiatives. This position will complement the Mayor's cross functional collaboration management model. In this management model, departments and offices under the Mayor's portfolio coordinate resources, share information, collaborate across horizontal and vertical reporting lines, and align goals to achieve the Mayor's vision for Salt Lake County. In order to achieve this goal, this position will work with all regions across Salt Lake County including the 23 municipalities within its boundaries. This position will also help to advance the County as the premier regional government that creates collaborative solutions to regional challenges, represents high quality service delivery, innovative governance models, and the highest regional performance. Specifically, the Director will oversee the divisions of Regional Planning & Transportation, Economic Development, Housing and Community Development, Canyon Management Program, and the Office of Environmental Services. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration or other closely related field, plus six (6) years of related experience in a position of progressively more responsible experience including supervisor, management, leadership, budgetary or project management. OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration or other closely related field, plus eight (8) years of related experience in a position of progressively more responsible experience including supervisor, management, leadership, budgetary or project management. Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements. Essential Functions

Develops and implements an integrated strategic long-range plan for the Office. Establishes policies and procedures for the operation of the Office, including monitoring and evaluating Division performance, coordinating personnel, planning, budgeting, contracting, fiscal management, and service delivery. Coordinates intergovernmental relations with local, State, and Federal government agencies that affect the Office. Monitors and evaluates Division performance and seeks organizational efficiencies, including process improvements and organizational planning. Supervises staff, which includes hiring, orienting, training, assigning and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisals, and Directs and oversees the preparation, justification, and administration of the Office's budget. Serves as a member of the Mayor's Executive Cabinet and contributes to the administration's strategic plan and Manages special projects for the Mayor's Office. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
