Assistant College Athletic Trainer, Sports Medicine Outreach

Position Summary
Supports/Provides Athletic Training services and care on behalf of Covenant Health's Sports Medicine Outreach program. The ideal candidate possesses the experience, decision-making ability, and clinical skills to make injury assessments based on evidence-based injury evaluation techniques. This position reports to the Director of Sports Medicine services within Covenant Health, Head Athletic Trainer as well as the College/University Athletic Director. Responsibilities
Provides Athletic Training services for designated College or University as part of Covenant Health's community outreach programs. Supports the Head Athletic Trainer in the development and implementation of a successful intercollegiate athletic training program. Incumbent must be proficient in the use of computer technology associated with student-athlete health care. Maintains accurate recordkeeping of injuries and treatment of injuries. Incumbent oversees the coordination and processing of medical insurance plans through the claims process. Assist in the coordination of scheduling all student-athlete medical referrals and physical therapy treatment sessions. Incumbent is responsible for the operation of the College/University Athletic Training facilities. Incumbent will have direct supervision over any PRN Athletic Trainers, or Student helpers. Incumbent shall utilize appropriate, evidence based clinical techniques to effectively assess and treat athletic injuries. Incumbent reviews medical records for conditions associated with cardiac related myopathies. Incumbent shall perform injury/health evaluations, treatment, rehabilitation. Incumbent will assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the institutional drug screening program. Incumbent works under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer, treating medical provider. Incumbent shall coordinate Doctor's appointments related to athletic injuries. Must be an effective communicator and develop professional contacts within community. Participates in annual education presentations to athletes, coaches, & administrators. Assists in the coordination of pre-participation health screenings. Works with clinicians at local therapy clinics to transition athletes back to play. Administers baseline and post injury concussion testing. Reviews standard operating procedures for the sports medicine program. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience. Minimum Experience:
Three (3) years of experience. Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain Tennessee State licensure as an athletic trainer and Board of Certification (BOC) certification for the Athletic Trainer.
