Industrial Plant Janitor
Location: Houston, Texas Reports to: Houston Maintenance Supervisor Collaborates with: Production, Accounting, Sales, Shipping, Vendors Primary Responsibility: The Industrial Plant Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in all areas of the industrial facility, including production floors, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and exterior grounds. This role ensures that cleaning standards comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, helping to support overall plant operations and employee well-being. Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors; clean and disinfect surfaces. Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed. Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning agents. Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and pressure washers. Monitor cleaning supply inventory and report needs to supervisor. Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous materials. Respond to cleaning and maintenance requests promptly and professionally. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Support plant operations by maintaining cleanliness in compliance with OSHA and company standards. What Qualifies You: High school diploma or GED equivalent Prior janitorial, housekeeping, or custodial experience in an industrial or commercial setting Ability to work independently and follow verbal or written instructions Ability to lift to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks Familiarity with basic cleaning equipment and chemical handling procedures Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial plant environments Knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA standards Forklift or floor scrubber certification (if required for facility) Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 60 pounds Ability to stand for long periods of time Regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work at heights. Comfortable working in manufacturing environments with varying temperatures, noise, and exposure to industrial equipment. Availability to work occasional overtime, nights, or weekends as needed. Working Conditions: Manufacturing production environment.
