Position Summary:
The
HU Online Program Director for Business Programs
is responsible for the day-to-day operational management and academic support of online undergraduate and graduate business programs within the School of Business. This in-person role requires close collaboration with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality program delivery, monitor performance metrics, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and growth. The Program Director plays a key role in maintaining academic excellence and supporting student success in a dynamic online learning environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: Developing and implementing program goals, strategies, and initiatives aligned with the institution's mission and strategic plan. Overseeing curriculum design, development, and review processes, ensuring alignment with academic standards and best practices. Monitor program performance metrics-including enrollment, retention, and learner satisfaction-and utilize data to drive continuous improvement. Collaborate with the academic unit to hire, supervise, and evaluate program faculty. Manage enrollment for HU Online programs within the School of Business (undergraduate and graduate levels), including: Maintaining up-to-date records of application submissions, completed applications, and inquiries. Coordinating recruitment and retention strategies while promoting the program to prospective students and key stakeholders. Contacting students who have not registered for required courses each term, tracking reasons for non-registration, and taking appropriate action to resolve issues. Alerting the Department Chair or designated faculty regarding student concerns (e.g., academic progress, advisement). Serving as liaison among HU Online, the School of Business, and the Graduate School on academic matters. Oversee the academic progress of enrolled students, manage communications with both new and continuing students, and ensure timely support. Coordinate and audit student progress each semester, particularly as graduate students prepare for comprehensive exams and candidacy. Review and update graduate handbooks, forms, and related materials, securing necessary approvals. Collaborate with the Department Chairs and Director of Enrollment Management to ensure accurate data management and maintenance of student records and program documentation. Contribute to the development and implementation of mentorship and professional development initiatives. Assist with monitoring and completing graduation-related procedures and documentation. Partner with IT and instructional design teams to implement and enhance learning management systems and educational technologies. Respond to admissions and retention-related inquiries via phone and email. Representing the program at university meetings and events. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Doctorate degree (Ph.D., D.B.A., or Ed.D.) in Business Administration or a closely related business field required. Minimum of three years of experience in higher education, preferably in online program administration. Proven expertise in enrollment management, including recruitment strategy, data analysis, and student retention initiatives for online programs. Ability to analyze enrollment trends and collaborate with marketing, admissions, faculty, and student support teams to drive program growth. Prior experience teaching business-related courses in higher education, preferably in an online or hybrid format. Demonstrated ability in curriculum development, instructional design, and academic program assessment. Proficiency in learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and student information systems (e.g., Banner). Ability to lead and motivate teams, manage projects, and make strategic decisions. Strong skills in planning, executing, and evaluating programs to align with institutional goals. Knowledge of regional and programmatic accreditation standards (e.g., IACBE, SACSCOC). Experience in supervising faculty is strongly preferred.
