Job Description Irrigation Technician Department: Landscaping Reports To: Site Supervisor / Property Manager Position Summary The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across assigned properties. This role involves troubleshooting irrigation equipment, monitoring system efficiency, and working closely with the maintenance team to support landscaping health and appearance. Key Responsibilities
Install, inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including pipes, valves, sprinkler heads, and controllers. Monitor water usage to ensure efficient operation and adjust systems as necessary. Identify and troubleshoot irrigation problems such as leaks, clogs, or electrical issues. Perform seasonal maintenance, including system start-up, shut-down, and winterization. Operate and maintain irrigation tools, trenchers, and other related equipment safely. Ensure compliance with all local codes, environmental regulations, and company safety policies. Maintain accurate records of services, repairs, and materials used. Assist in planning and upgrading irrigation systems to improve efficiency and water conservation. Collaborate with landscaping teams to ensure proper watering schedules for plant health. Respond promptly to irrigation emergencies and repair requests. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 1–2 years of experience in irrigation system installation, maintenance, or a related field preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and landscape maintenance. Ability to read irrigation plans, blueprints, and manuals. Skilled in using tools and equipment related to irrigation installation and repair. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Skills and Competencies
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks. Physical stamina to perform manual labor, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and lift up to 50 lbs. Work Environment Outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions. May require occasional overtime or weekend work during peak irrigation seasons.
