Structural Bridge Project Manager
We have a career opportunity for a Structural Project Manager with experience in the design and management of bridge and transportation projects. The ideal candidate will also have experience in bridge inspection, load ratings and asset management-related services. This person will serve as a key leader in our Kansas/Missouri Division and contribute to initiatives that drive the overall growth of our practice. As a Structural Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to manage assigned projects, providing direct supervision, mentorship, and overall leadership. We are open to hiring candidates located anywhere within Kansas or Missouri. Our Kansas Division has six offices, including: Kansas City, KS; Topeka, KS; Wichita, KS; Manhattan, KS; Lenexa, KS; Kansas City, MO. This position allows a hybrid work schedule, with employees working from one of our office locations when feasible. For candidates not located near one of our offices, we are open to considering a fully remote work arrangement. The impact you will have: Serve as project manager on bridge and transportation design projects Create and execute project work plans including developing project scope, schedule and budget estimates Manage project teams, accountable for budget and schedule Mentor junior staff Contribute to Kansas Division strategic growth initiatives Champion relationships with key clients, including KDOT and/or MoDOT Represent Benesch at industry and professional engagement events Ability to identify opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits Identifying resources needed and effectively delegating staff duties and responsibilities Create and Execute project work plans Serve as the primary interface between the clients and staff for a given project Coordinate, monitor, and review work performed by sub-consultants Promote the team environment and communication and identify and address team conflicts Networking, including active participation in and leadership of professional organizations What you will need: BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline Registered Engineer in Kansas and/or Missouri Minimum of 7+ years of bridge design experience including project management responsibility preferred Proven experience on KDOT or MoDOT bridge projects preferred Seller/Doer mentality, client interaction experience a plus A track record of adhering to design budgets and project schedules Excellent communication and client relation skills Strong understanding and familiarity with steel/concrete design software Experience with bridge inspection, including completed NHI training a plus Practice good time management skills, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently within time constraints while dealing with numerous concurrent activities Willingness to travel to project/work sites as necessary Benesch is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants in all protected groups, including veterans and individuals with disabilities, or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
