Braille Instructional Assistant
Under the supervision of the program instructor(s) and/or the program administrator, the Braille Instructional Assistant will support the instruction and all other activities by brailing materials for tutoring blind and visually impaired students on an individual and/or group basis. The Braille Instructional Assistant will enable students to develop competencies and skills to function in a successful and positive manner. Minimum Requirements: Certification as a Literary Braille Transcriber or Proofreader is preferred Minimum six months of experience performing basic Braille transcription; OR satisfactory completion of a course in braille transcription from the National Federation of the Blind Must be able to use computer notation and other electronic equipment used by the blind and visually impaired Must have knowledge and skill related to embossing tools, media, and understand the concepts to be presented when preparing tactile materials Current CPR if applicable TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Must be at least 18 years of age At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: Competitive pay & weekly paychecks Health, dental, vision, and life insurance 401(k) savings plan Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
