Senior Association Director To Youth Development
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Youth Development, the Senior Association Director of Inclusive Learning provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for YMCA afterschool programs based in Boston Public Schools (BPS) Hub Schools. This role ensures program fidelity, drives inclusive learning initiatives, and supports the delivery of high-quality, equitable youth development experiences across the Association. The Senior Association Director will develop and implement strategies that promote inclusive learning practices across afterschool, day camp and summer learning programs, while also managing staff, supporting families, and fostering strong community partnerships. This position plays a critical role in aligning programming with Boston Public Schools' goals and ensuring all youthespecially those with diverse learning needsreceive the support they need to thrive. In accordance with the mission and strategic imperatives of the YMCA of Greater Boston, the Senior Association Director will champion inclusive learning practices that empower youth, engage families, and strengthen school and community collaboration. This position will drive success in the following areas to support strong academic and developmental outcomes for youth across YMCA sites. Key Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: PROGRAM STRATEGY & QUALITY Afterschool & Summer Program Oversight
> Provide strategic and operational leadership for all YMCA Hub School-based afterschool and hub school-based summer learning programs. Align afterschool programming with Quality School Plans and student/family needs in BPS Hub Schools. Ensure programs meet or exceed goals in enrollment, quality, and impact across all participating sites. Drive implementation of best practices in youth development, academic support, and SEL. Inclusive Learning Strategy
> Lead and coordinate inclusive learning initiatives across all YMCA youth programs. Promote equitable access to learning environments that support children with diverse abilities and backgrounds. Coordinate services that connect families to care, resources, and individualized supports. Train and support staff in inclusive practices and accommodations. Program Development & Evaluation
> Ensure continuous improvement and measurable impact of all youth programs. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to youth outcomes, family satisfaction, and partnership quality. Conduct quality checks to ensure programs align with YMCA, BPS, and EEC standards. Evaluate curricula and program tools to maintain evidence-based, culturally responsive practices. PARTNERSHIP & COLLABORATION Cross-Sector Collaboration
> Build and sustain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Partner with BPS Academic and Hub Departments to ensure alignment with educational goals. Collaborate with the Senior Director of Academic Integration & Partner Development to align strategy and initiatives. Serve as liaison among the YMCA, school sites, and community organizations to promote seamless program delivery. Family & Community Engagement
> Strengthen the YMCA's presence and value within the school and broader community. Champion the needs of families and ensure programs reflect the voice of the communities they serve. Support outreach, intake, and communication strategies to enhance engagement and accessibility. TEAM LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT Staff Supervision & Performance Management
> Lead and develop a team committed to youth success and inclusion. Provides direct supervision to all direct reports and develops and monitors staff member development plans and training opportunities that promote career growth within the Y. Create professional development pathways, conduct coaching and evaluations, and promote career growth. Identify training needs and implement staff development strategies focused on inclusive practices and high-quality instruction. Operations & Compliance
> Maintain compliance and operational excellence across all sites. Ensure adherence to YMCA, EEC, BPS, DPH, and ACA standards for safety, staffing, and program quality. Lead required reporting and documentation processes with attention to accuracy and timeliness. FISCAL & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Budget Oversight
> Manage program budgets for all Hub School-based afterschool and summer learning sites. Ensure financial sustainability while maintaining quality and equitable access. Identify and support funding opportunities in collaboration with YMCA leadership, including grants and partnerships. Monitor expenditures and ensure resource alignment with strategic goals. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in education, Youth Development, Social Work, or a related field Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in youth development, education, or nonprofit program management. Strong knowledge of inclusive learning practices, SEL, and afterschool programming models. Demonstrated success in managing multi-site operations, staff development, and community partnerships. Familiarity with Boston Public Schools, EEC regulations, and the community school model preferred. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Experience supporting families with diverse needs and connecting them to relevant systems and resources. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to travel between Boston Public School sites, YMCA locations, and administrative offices. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support events, training, or family engagement activities.
