Hachette Book Group is seeking a Sales Director to lead our adult books sales team. This individual will oversee a team of sales representatives responsible for selling adult HBG titles to Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million. In close collaboration with publishers and the account management team, the Sales Director will drive strategies for frontlist and backlist growth, ensuring our award-winning and best-selling books reach readers across the country. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and passionate team within one of the industry's leading publishers. Key Responsibilities:
Partner with division leaders and the sales team to plan and execute promotional strategies that support annual growth targets. Oversee monthly and annual sales performance metrics Collaborate with retail partners to create customized sales opportunities. Manage and support a team of National Account Managers, focusing on maximizing channel performance through initial sales, reorders, and backlist inventory optimization. Provide insights to internal teams on market trends and account-specific initiatives, both in-store and online. Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years of experience in publishing sales or marketing, with demonstrated success. Previous supervisory experience and strong leadership skills. Proven ability to manage both strategic planning and day-to-day operations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable using data to guide decisions. Highly organized and adaptable; thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments. Collaborative mindset with a track record of building productive relationships across teams and external partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
