Under general supervision of Manager, Facilities Management, installs, services, and repairs environmental control systems. Examples of Duties

The following functions represent the majority of the duties performed by the position but are not meant to be all-inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned when necessary. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (100% of Time): Utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout: mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor; fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork and chassis parts; and installs evaporator unit in chassis or air duct system. Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating-ventilation fans to control panels; and connects control panels to power source. Plumbing knowledge is desired from PVC to copper and condensate drains and chilled water to heating water loop system. Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure efficient operation. Test joints and connections for gas leaks. Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using hand tools and test equipment. Understand and have knowledge of lighting systems. May install, repair, and service air-conditioners, ranging from 5 to 150 tons cooling capacity. Repairs pneumatic controls. Must be proficient in small appliance refrigeration for freezers, refrigerators, and ice machines. Operates trucks, forklifts, and other vehicles in performing assigned duties. Must be able to help the team with snow removal. Completes required training in support of the duties and responsibilities of this position. Other duties as assigned including those required to fulfill activities in support of public health emergency operations. Typical Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years HVAC trade school required or comparable experience. Experience: Five years of experience in working in HVAC trade as a licensed mechanic required. Skills: Ability to read and comprehend complicated electrical, plumbing, and air-conditioning blueprints and/or schematics. Licenses: Oklahoma Mechanical Contractor/Journeyman's License, EPA Universal Certification and Tulsa City First Class Stationary Engineer License is required. Valid Oklahoma driver license required. INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal contact with all departments in determination of repair or maintenance requirements. External contact with vendors and electricians. Excellent customer service is desired. RESPONSIBILITY/ACCOUNTABILITY: Direct Supervision - None Budget/Money/Material - Responsible for assigned equipment. Reports to - Facilities Management Manager PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stooping, bending, climbing, and lifting equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Motor skills are required in the operation and repair of equipment and tools; and physical effort required in carrying equipment, machinery, tools, and furniture. Must be able to solve practical problems encompassing a variety of variables with limited standardization, and able to define the nature of an equipment/structural problem based on limited information. WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to chemical vapors, noise, and dust. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must maintain THD record confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
