Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation, the Associate Director of Recreation is a 12-month full-time position primarily focused on facilities, operations, and well-being in the context of recreation. Department Overview

The William Paterson University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation is an integral part of the University's overall mission to provide its students with a comprehensive educational experience, one that stresses the importance of academic, personal, emotional, social and physical development. As a part of the University's Division of Student Development the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has long been a source of pride for the entire campus community, thanks to the Pioneers' outstanding achievements on and off the competitive fields of play. Currently sponsoring 13 NCAA Division III teams (baseball, men's and women's basketball, field hockey, football, men's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming and diving, women's tennis, women's volleyball), William Paterson is a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, one of the most competitive leagues in the nation. Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To:

Oversee day-to-day physical Athletics and Recreation facility maintenance, including facility tours, maintenance inspections, and small scale repairs as capable. Assist with large scale facility projects, particularly serving as the direct contact with vendors as warranted. Serve as primary day of event supervisor during Sports and Recreation Center special events and facility rentals. Review, plan, and approve Athletics and Recreation internal facility requests and external rentals. Ensure facility rentals are consistent with University and state guidelines. Maintain facility access control system and monitor usage for Sports and Recreation Center, Overlook Fitness Center, and [shared] Wightman Pool. Ensure all facilities operate within required risk management procedures and oversee the implementation of standardized safety practices. Ensure that accurate records for general maintenance, replacement, and repairs for all facilities are kept. Support for the pool and aquatics program, as needed. Maintain operations and supplies inventory for Sports and Recreation Center and Overlook Fitness Center. Develop and maintain daily/weekly/annual facility and equipment cleaning schedules for staff, custodians, and maintenance staff. Oversee fitness equipment including coordinating service and repairs and recommending replacements or new items. Serve as the direct supervisor for the Recreation Administration Graduate Assistant. With the support of Recreation Administration Graduate Assistant, recruit, develop, manage, and lead student staff in all aspects of Athletics and Recreation facility operations. Develop and maintain student staff schedules to ensure that the facility is appropriately staffed and operated within budget. Coordinate with Hospitality Services on external rentals and University rentals including developing estimated and final expense billing, staffing, equipment, campus resources, and facility and rental administration. Maintain facility calendars and program schedules for sports and Recreation Center, Overlook Fitness Center, and [shared] Wightman Pool. Track and maintain student and professional staff CPR and first aid certifications and lifeguard staff certifications. Coordinate classes and/or teach American Red Cross CPR/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogen, and AED certification courses for all departmental staff. Support programming efforts by Recreation area. Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university. Two (2) or more years of professional campus recreation experience (substitute two years of graduate assistant experience for one year of professional experience). Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated experience hiring, training, and supervising student employees. Demonstrated experience developing and leading recreation and/or fitness programs. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include early mornings, late evenings, and/or weekends. Possess Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire. Preferred: Bachelor's degree with a degree in exercise science, sport management, health education, health promotion or related field. Master's degree. Experience with wellness and/or wellbeing programming and fitness facility oversight. Professional staff supervisory experience. Aquatics program and staff oversight experience.
