Performs diagnostic procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. Responsibilities include: May have to travel to satellite locations to perform diagnostic procedures. When ordered, prepares and administers ultrasound enhancing agents (UEA) and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes in status as thorough comprehensive preliminary report of study data to physician staff. Reviews patient history and physicians orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patients understanding and cooperation. Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits, and reports scan results. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Adult Echocardiography One (1) year of experience working in an IAC accredited institution. In lieu of one year of experience, will accept credentialed new grads (within 1 year of graduation). Pediatric Echocardiography (Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital) One (1) year of experience imaging congenital heart defect and surgical repairs in an IAC accredited institution. In lieu of experience, will accept new grads (within 1 year of graduation). Must obtain credential within six (6) months of starting the position. Other Information: Education: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound imaging program.
