The Peer Recovery Specialist has been successful in the recovery process and will help guide others who are experiencing similar situations. Through shared understanding, respect, and empowerment, peer recovery specialist will help individuals stay engaged in their recovery journey. The Specialist participates in the following activities: advocating for people in recovery, sharing resources and building skills, building community relationships, leading recovery groups, mentoring, and setting goals. The Peer Recovery Specialist will function as a role model and perform a wide range of tasks. What You Will Do

Provide recovery education to service recipients for every phase of the recovery. From pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance. Assist recovering persons to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery. Facilitate the transition from a professionally directed service plan to a self-directed recovery plan. Promote self-advocacy by assisting recovering persons to have their voices fully heard; their needs, goals, and objectives established as the focal point of rehabilitation and clinical services. Actively identify and support referrals to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person's goals and interests. This involves a collaborative effort including the recovering person, agency staff, and other relevant stakeholders. Identify barriers (internal and external) of service recipient in participation of community resources and develop strategies to overcome those barriers. Referring individuals to appropriate professional resources when needed. Maintain contact with recovering person to ensure ongoing success and provide re-engagement support in partnership with others, if needed. Assist clients in building social skills in the community that will enhance job acquisition and tenure. Develop, implement, and promote ongoing community training opportunities. Essential Qualifications

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience: Bachelor's Drivers License - Licensing Board Upon Hire Peer Specialist Certification - Certification Board within 2 Years Recovery from lived-experience in substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders (self-attested) Knowledge of the recovery process Expectations and Standards
