Histology Technician / Technologist
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Histology Technician or Technologist to join our growing team in a state-of-the-art pathology laboratory. This role is responsible for preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination, supporting accurate diagnosis and high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities
Accession, receive, and prepare tissue specimens for processing Perform grossing and inking (if qualified) Prepare and manage media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions Process tissue through embedding, microtomy, staining, cryostat use, and freezing Label and prepare slides; perform quality control checks Examine slides microscopically to identify abnormalities Maintain instruments, equipment, and clean work areas Log, file, track, and store specimens and slides accurately Maintain inventory and documentation, including QA/QC logs Ensure compliance with all regulatory and training requirements Qualifications
Associate's degree required; completion of a NAACLS-accredited histology program Certification as HT or HTL (ASCP) or eligibility to sit for the exam (must certify within one year) Minimum of 2 years of histology experience preferred Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques Familiarity with CLIA requirements, including 60 semester hours of coursework and lab training Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently Work Environment
This position operates in a modern, high-volume pathology lab equipped with advanced technology. The role offers opportunities for professional growth, including exposure to Mohs procedures and other specialized techniques. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
