Staff Technical Writer
The Hivemind Division of Shield AI seeks a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, verifying, and sustaining comprehensive documentation for the Hivemind Enterprise product: a software product that enables scalable design, deployment, evaluation, and iteration of autonomy architectures for a wide range of robotic platforms. Hivemind Enterprise is a highly technical software product SDK containing tools and user interfaces that satisfy the needs of multiple personae, ranging from operators of autonomous platforms to AI and test engineers. This role requires a deep understanding of developer facing software products (SDKs, CLI tools, CI Integration, etc.), complex configuration systems, extensible software development kits (SDKs) and command line interfaces (CLIs). We are looking for someone who can work with developers, learn to use the Hivemind SDK product, and translate initially drafted technical documentation into clearly communicated technical tutorials capable of being followed by customers with wide differences in skills and level of experience. What You'll Do:
Become an expert user of the Hivemind Enterprise product. Contribute to the selection of documentation creation platforms and tools. Work with systems engineering to create programmatic links between Shield AI's system model and the Hivemind Enterprise product's documentation. Devise a strategy for connecting auto-generated API documentation with hand-written user guides. Work with developers and our Customer Engagement team to generate technical writing to describe product functionalities. Generate excellent diagrams and other visual aids to describe supported workflows. Required Qualifications:
Deep familiarity with multiple complex developer-facing software products and their documentation. Deep familiarity with frameworks used to create excellent and interactive documentation of software products. Rich understanding of what excellence in software product documentation looks like. Highly proficient at technical writing for software products. Reasonable familiarity with robotics and aviation concepts. Comfortable working in a Linux environment. Familiar with software engineering practices with regards to software versioning, packaging, deployment. Fast thinker, fast doer, able to generate results rapidly with minimal input in order to unblock iteration. Excellent communicator. Preferred Qualifications:
Software engineering experience or training. Experience within the robotics industry or autonomy. Experience within the aviation and/or aerospace industry. Familiarity with System Modeling using SysML. $100,000 - $160,000 per year Full-time regular employee offer package: Pay within range listed + Bonus + Benefits + Equity Temporary employee offer package: Pay within range listed above + temporary benefits package (applicable after 60 days of employment) Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
