Ethicon's Robotics & Digital Solutions business, part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, is recruiting for a Manager, Assembly Process Development, located in Cincinnati, OH. You'll collaborate on breakthrough medical technologies that unite multiple subject areas to build a connected digital ecosystem that advances medical professionals' skills and improves patient outcomes. This Manager of Assembly Process Development will lead a team of R&D Development Engineers to deliver assembly processes and equipment to enable supply of Instruments & Accessories (I&A) for the Surgical Robotics platform. Key Responsibilities: Lead R&D Equipment and Process Development Engineers focused on delivering key assembly stations and related innovations. Provide functional management to equipment engineering staff. Seamlessly collaborate with all R&D functions, equipment suppliers, and manufacturing sites to bring full-scale production solutions from concept to market. Champion DFX and be the Voice of Development Engineering within the NPD teams. Drive robustness and excellence in the DFX strategy for projects (Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Cost). Investigate and enable new manufacturing technologies and process improvements, and standardize approach across the I&A portfolio to drive innovation and reduce time to market. Mentor and coach individuals to achieve their development goals and drive stronger business objectives. Encourage technical mastery, collaboration, cross-training, critical thinking, and problem solving. Responsible for managing operational aspects of their team (e.g., workflow, performance, and compliance), as well as ensuring achievement of project goals within established timelines and budgets. Qualifications: Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: Bachelor of Science in Engineering. 8+ years of proven experience in a dynamic R&D environment with emphasis on new product innovation, scale-up and production line development. Experience in senior engineering positions. Experience in manufacturing and complex assembly. Excellent communication, teamwork and influencing skills. Must be proficient at boiling down complex issues to provide succinct updates. Experience interacting with and successfully leading multi-regional teams. Must have proven track record of inspiring individuals and rallying teams to achieve objectives. Willingness to travel up to 20%, domestically and internationally. Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience: Experience in the medical device industry. Minimum of 3 years of people managerial responsibilities. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
