Community Event Logistics Assistant

New York Road Runners (NYRR) was founded in 1958 when a small group of passionate runners vowed to bring running to the people, and has grown from a local running club into the world's premier community running organization. NYRR's mission is to help and inspire through running, aiming to empower people of all ages and abilities to improve their health and well-being through the power of running and fitness. NYRR's year-round offerings of races, community events, programs, and training resources provide hundreds of thousands of people with the motivation, know-how, and opportunities to start running and keep running for life. NYRR is equally committed to the runners of tomorrow, passionately providing youth fitness programs that educate and inspire children in underserved communities in New York City, nationwide, and around the world. Headquartered in New York City, NYRR is a 501(c)(3) organization. The core responsibility of this position is to provide onsite logistics assistance to more than 50 youth and community events per year, each serving 100-2,500 or more participants. Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties): Perform specific operational duties, as assigned, at each event. Duties may include start, course, finish setup/breakdown, t-shirt, ribbon, or water distribution, officials' support, bib pickup, family reunion, results, and crowd management. Support youth activities based of the Rising New York Road Runners philosophy (training will be provided) at youth and community events. Attend virtual and in-person meetings throughout the year to understand the operations of our youth and community events. Help with the set-up and breakdown of the event. Skills and Attributes: Ability to follow directions and execute them properly Ability to lift and move event equipment as needed Initiative to work independently while simultaneously maintaining a team focus Ability to relate to and work with diverse populations is essential Heart, humor and a commitment to our organizational mission and vision Ability to thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. Experience in running at any level, including recreational, is preferred Other Requirements: Travel frequently to various locations throughout NYC on day of events Work several weekday/weekend early mornings throughout the year (start times range between 3a-6a) Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 25lbs.
