Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a per diem Infection Prevention Practitioner to provide strategic planning, compliance with regulatory agencies, and management of daily operations for the Infection Control Program. ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients. POSITION SUMMARY The Infection Prevention Practitioner is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. This position maintains compliance with company infection prevention policies, procedures, and protocols and ensures that the facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection control or standard/universal precautions. Responsible for conducting regularly scheduled hospital infection prevention meetings and provides initial and ongoing orientation and training in infection control principles and practices to all hospital staff. The Practitioner will maintain infection control precautions and aseptic techniques that successfully correct problem areas. The position involves direct patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older. Age specific experience and/or special training and/or expertise is required to serve this population. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of an associate degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or related field required. Current NJ state registered nurse license preferred. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a general acute care hospital is required. CIC certification required within regulations and APIC membership required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association. One (1) year of experience in infection prevention surveillance, trending and monitoring is preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office and EMR.
