The School Counselor Role
The School Counselor is a part of our Scholar Support team. They provide individual and small group mental health counseling services to our students. The School Counselor collaborates closely with our lead teachers, academic specialists, and culture team to ensure that students needs are being met. The School Counselor also collaborates with parents to engage them as partners. The Counselor may serve as a liaison between the school, student, parent and external agencies. Over the course of the year, the School Counselor will receive management and professional development. We seek outstanding educators with the following qualifications: At least one of the following credentials is required: School Counselor License or School Adjustment Counselor License from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker from Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Work Licensed Mental Health Counselor from Massachusetts Board of Allied Mental Health Professionals Master's degree in mental health counseling or Social Work preferred At least one year of full time experience with mental health counseling in a school setting preferred A high level of organization skills A passion for working with kids and a belief that all kids can succeed Humility, resilience, and a hunger to learn and grow Strong team orientation Infectious joy Multilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
