The Parkway YMCA is seeking dynamic, motivated, energetic Certified Personal Trainers who will focus on member engagement, satisfaction and retention by building relationships so that members become connected and feel part of the YMCA family. This is a part-time position offering $35 an hour based on experience and 10-20 hours/week based on client schedule and availability. The hours will include weekends and evenings. We are seeking personal trainers with knowledge of and experience specifically working with women's health issues, older adults, and chronic diseases. Key Responsibilities Supports the Mission and Vision of the YMCA and builds community. Build a personal training clientele to include one-on-one and small group training. Demonstrates clear explanations and exercise material with proper form and technique. Develops positive relationships with members and provides motivational support and guidance. Tracks client packages through YMCA software. Follow up with each client in a timely manner and on a regularly scheduled basis. Operates all equipment properly and promptly reports any problems. Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports, as necessary. Attends necessary training and meetings, as scheduled. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Four-year degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred. Nationally accredited certification (preferred: NSCA, ACSM, NASM) Experience working with deconditioned and special populations (i.e. seniors, youth, those with chronic diseases) preferred Reasonable level of physical fitness Enthusiastic, outgoing personality Demonstrated ability to perform fitness assessments and to teach progressive exercise programs Ability to instruct and observe participants using proper exercise techniques Ability to create and monitor safe and effective exercise programs for individuals, as well as recognize a member's potential and limitations Highly motivated to sell personal training services. Sales experience preferred. Possess mature judgment and sound decision-making. Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers, and supervisors. Must be observant, safety conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
