Job Profile Summary

Under general direction, this district-wide administrative position is responsible for assisting the AVP for Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness in the administration and oversight of the Department of Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness. Design short-term and long-term strategies for continuous improvement of Campus Safety. The incumbent may be assigned to coordinate and oversee the operational aspects of the organization or the support and administrative functions, as well as act on behalf of the AVP in his/her absence. This position is college wide and requires travel between campuses. Minimum Education

Masters degree required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Minimum Experience/Training

Ten years of public safety experience and five years of management experience. Minimum Certification/Licenses

Class E Drivers license required. Preferred Qualifications

Developing and implementing strategic plans, policies and budget Experience with the management of CCTV, access control platforms, and physical security and safety systems Development and implementation of formal personnel development programs Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Certification Essential Functions

Daily - 20%: Participates and implements strategic planning and oversight in areas of budgeting, purchasing, personnel, records and parking services. Daily - 15%: Executes the operational plan for the Campus Safety department and provides direction, to ensure alignment with the divisions and Colleges mission and vision. Other - 15%: Responsible for people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff, staff development and training. Other - 10%: Responsible for policy recommendation, implementation and interpretation. Ensures department directives and college policies are uniformly followed. Weekly - 10%: Develops and administers crime prevention programs for the college. Other - 5%: Investigates and reviews complaints against department members. Other - 5%: Serves as liaison with law enforcement officials, contractual agencies, and other outside groups as directed. Other - 5%: Attends meetings, make presentations, and serve on committees as directed. Other - 5%: Responds to critical incidents and makes notifications as needed. Daily - 5%: Mentors subordinates to higher performance. Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned. Our Culture
