The Director of Counseling Services provides visionary leadership and clinical oversight for the university's Counseling Center, ensuring the delivery of holistic, accessible, and culturally responsive mental health care to students. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, this role includes supervision of a multidisciplinary team, collaboration with campus partners, oversight of clinical operations, and development of wellness initiatives aligned with student success. Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Administration Provide strategic and operational oversight for all Counseling Center services and staff. Supervise, support, and evaluate a team of counselors, a clinical care coordinator, and a health educator. Manage daily operations, including scheduling, budget, policy development, and compliance. Maintain confidential client records in accordance with privacy regulations. Report center activities, utilization trends, and needs to senior leadership. Clinical Oversight & Crisis Response Oversee delivery of high-quality clinical care, crisis intervention, and referral coordination. Respond to mental health crises and consult on cases involving at-risk students. Stay informed on emerging mental health trends and best practices. Serve as a key member of the university's CARE/Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). Program Development & Evaluation Design, implement, and assess wellness and mental health programming including workshops, support groups, and outreach campaigns. Pursue external funding opportunities through grants and foundations to support program expansion. Use data and feedback to continually improve service delivery and outreach efforts. Campus Collaboration & Integration Act as liaison between the Counseling Center and campus partners (Health Services, Housing, Student Affairs, Academic Units, etc.). Lead mental health stigma-reduction initiatives and wellness campaigns. Collaborate with software vendors (e.g., Titanium) and manage related service agreements. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university mandates, including the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act. Professional Development Remain current on counseling practices, regulations, and ethical standards. Promote continuous staff development through training, supervision, and professional education. Participate in university and divisional leadership meetings and committees. Qualifications

Education: Ph.D. or other doctorate-level equivalent required. Area of concentration must be in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related field. Licensure/Certification: Must hold current licensure to practice as a mental health professional in the state of Florida (e.g., LMHC, LCSW, Licensed Psychologist). Candidates not currently licensed in Florida must obtain licensure within six (6) months of hire. Experience: A minimum of 510 years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership role focused on mental health initiatives. Demonstrated experience in: Programmatic assessment and data analysis Project management Budget development and management Additional Requirements: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse populations
