Job Summary Promotes, maintains, and restores patient health by conducting physical examinations, tests, and interviews; observing patient; analyzing treatment options based on the meridian system, special and extra loci, and auriculotherapy; determining appropriate treatments to achieve balance; applying needling techniques, moxibustion, electroacupuncture, and acupressure. Does this position require Patient Care? Y Qualifications Essential Functions Develop a group acupuncture program Accept referrals from physicians either in writing or orally. Schedule treatment and/or consults in accordance with Hospital regulations and guidelines. Documents patient treatments by charting in records. Contributes to acupuncture and organization success by welcoming related, different, and new requests; helping others accomplish job results. Acupuncture services are marketed with referral sources and at community events to increase awareness and understanding of this intervention. Maintains patient confidence and protects organization operations by keeping information confidential, cautioning others regarding potential breaches. Education Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes Licenses and Credentials Acupuncturist NH State License Required Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Required within 2 weeks of hire Experience practicing acupuncture 1-2 years required Experience providing acupuncture in a healthcare setting such as a hospital, community health center, pain clinic or other integrative health care setting 1-2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Demonstrated knowledge of acupuncture theory, anatomy and physiology. Demonstrated ability to make appropriate judgments of the patient to provide safe acupuncture. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patients served on assigned units. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with varied populations. Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team. High level of service delivery Demonstrate initiative with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and adapt to changing situations. Must carry professional liability insurance.
