Student Assistant 2 - Fulton County
This position will be housed in Wauseon, Ohio and will require some travel to other sites for field research across Western Ohio. Hours are flexible. This position can work up to 28 hours if taking classes and up to 38 hours during the summer and/or academic breaks. Responsibilities will be moderate and less routine and will require responsibility and good judgement. May coordinate activities for other student employees. Requires providing excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a professional environment. Requires previous experience and knowledge or skill in student assistant role. Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values. The Student Assistant will work under the direction of the Manure Nutrient Management Field Specialist and the Ag/NR Extension Educator in Fulton County. The preferred candidate will be responsible for helping with all aspects of the North American Manure Expo; assist with design and layout for extension research and demonstration field sites; assist completing liquid manure side-dress demonstration plots in Western Ohio; assist with collecting data tabulating data, summarizing data, and writing research results; assist with collecting and analyzing plant tissue samples; assist with manure sample collection and report analysis assist with manure equipment calibration; assist with taking corn, soybean, and wheat population stands; learn about research plot layout and design and the need for replication and statistical analysis.
