Senior Research Associate

The Division of Infectious Diseases is actively recruiting an Assistant Professor (Research Track) with expertise in the area of M. tuberculosis and/or other pathogens of public health significance. A successful candidate is expected to have experience in management of research staff, general biosafety level (BSL)-2 and/or BSL-3 laboratory experience (required), experience in laboratory management to provide support to the laboratory members, and is skilled in ordering supplies and equipment, and interacting with vendors, as needed. Experience in flow cytometry, cell culture, purification of organelles (e.g., mitochondria, etc.), and experience in proper mouse handling. Additional Information

General Labs Maintenance (10%) Perform as a Lab Manager. Directs and guides other technical members of the lab. Assist in the training of new lab personnel. Inventory, re-stock, keeps supplies in order, and order supplies with the approval of Principal Investigator (PI). Operates laboratory equipment during routine laboratory maintenance work. Assist in the preparation of materials for testing. Performs other duties as assigned. Research (80%) Performs routine laboratory procedures relative to the experience level. Procedures may include performing in vitro, ex vivo, and cell based assays, including but not limited to ELISA, RT-PCR, Western Blot, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, etc. Provides support to the PI in biochemical analyses of the drug susceptible and drug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis cell envelope. Provides support for the PI in developing organoids models. Provides support for the PI in developing SOPs for mitochondria purification and function. Perform in vitro and in vivo experiments handling Mycobacterium tuberculosis in a Biosafety level 3 (BSL3) setting. Able to run a project(s) independently under the direct supervision of the PI/Research Faculty/postdocs. Assists in the isolation of human and animal cells from tissues. Performs library research to find current and/or new trends/methods related to research being conducted; participates in journal clubs and laboratory meetings. Administrative (10%) Responsible for assisting management, study directors/investigators and staff with the development of institutional regulatory compliance documents (IRBs, AICUC, BSC, Chemical Hygiene Plan, and other institutional documentation). Assist in ordering supplies for the lab. Maintains various records relative to assignments. Assist in the development of laboratory SOPs. Location:
