This means your Kiewit adventure is custom designed to meet our shared needs. The ideal location for this position is Lenexa, KS. Management will consider other supporting locations. Utilize 3D design software such as SmartPlant 3D, Bentley OpenPlant, AutoCAD Plant 3D (or other 3D design software) to create 3D equipment models based off equipment drawings and provide technical guidance to lower-level designers/drafters to ensure work is completed accurately and to our standards. Design piping systems and generate isometric drawings for systems typical industrial facilities and power generation facilities, but not limited to, process steam, process water, drains, and general plant/facility water, compressed air, and gas systems, condensate, blowdown, circulating water, cooling and chilled water, and underground piping utilities. Perform early project design work related to facility layout and equipment general arrangement. Develop, monitor and check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards. Navigate 3D models and check for interferences and constructability. Support the construction team including representing the design team on-site, answering RFI's, providing creative design solutions, etc. Complete miscellaneous tasks to support project or department development. Coordinate with other design partners (both internal and external) including construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers and designers assigned to the project or task and review work progress and results. Develop schedules, work assignments, staffing requirements and support detailed estimates to ensure successful project completion. Train, mentor, and advise lower-level designers and support staff on proper application of industry standards and best practices. Reports task progress to Lead Designer. Bachelor's or associate degree in computer Aided Design and Drafting Technology, Engineering or related field. Experience with design software such as SmartPlant 3D (or similar plant design 3D software) and Microstation and AutoCAD required. A minimum of 10-15 years of 3D modeling/detailed design experience is required, with the ability to perform 3D piping design, equipment layout, develop construction drawings. Experience validating and coordinating with other disciplines for compliance with layouts. Experience in Nuclear, Industrial, Power, Oil and gas, performing balance of plant type of design, (piping, pumps, valves, heating, cooling systems, is required). Must have experience of pipe support design, equipment layout and installation of systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. DOE and Commercial Nuclear experience preferred but not required. Must be able to pass a background check. Must be a US Citizen or US permanent resident.
