Security Officer - Campus Police
To guard, patrol, and/or monitor UMMC premises. To provide information, directions, and traffic management. Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required: High school diploma/GED Certifications, Licenses or Registration required: Valid US Driver's License. American Heart Association CPR and FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 courses required post-hire within 90 days. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Skill in providing protection services to individuals. Skill in utilizing building security and lock systems and procedures. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, and staff. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns. Ability to understand and enforce safety procedures. Responsibilities Patrols assigned areas to ensure personal, building, and equipment security. Examines doors and windows to ensure that they are secure. Scrutinizes and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, unlocked security doors, and safety concerns. Provides information and directions to patients and visitors. Prepares applicable reports. Directs traffic and enforces motor vehicle operation and parking regulations. Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, occasional reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
