This role is based in Sunnyvale, CA. LinkedIn has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager, Payroll Operations to lead payroll operations across the U.S. and Canada. Reporting to the Director of Global Payroll Operations, this key leadership role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll delivery for approximately 13,000 employees across multiple entities. As part of the Global Payroll & Employment Tax leadership team, you will manage the full payroll cycle while driving operational excellence through process standardization, remediation, and optimization. You'll lead a high-performing team, ensure compliance, and elevate employee payroll experience through accuracy, flexibility, and service excellence. You will also oversee and manage cross-functional projects, collaborating with key partners across HR, Finance, Legal, Equity, Benefits, and Technology, etc to deliver solutions that scale with the business. Success in this role requires a strategic and collaborative mindset, strong payroll expertise, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Equity, Legal, Benefits, and other key stakeholders. You'll play a critical role in scaling and transforming payroll operations in a dynamic, high-growth environment. Responsibilities: Lead and manage full-cycle payroll operations for the U.S. and Canada, including bi-weekly, off-cycle, equity, and bonus processing for ~13,000 employees Supervise and mentor a team of payroll professionals, providing leadership, development, and career progression opportunities Ensure accurate and timely payroll execution in compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local regulations Act as subject matter expert on U.S. and Canadian payroll, including taxation, employment law, stock compensation, and benefit deductions Collaborate with internal stakeholders (HR, Benefits, Compensation, Stock Admin, Global Mobility, Legal, Treasury, and Accounting) to optimize end-to-end payroll-related processes Manage relationships with external vendors including ADP GlobalView, Streamline, and other third-party payroll service providers Oversee payroll-related audits, compliance checks, and controls (SOX, internal, and external audits) Maintain and continuously improve payroll process documentation, procedures, SLAs, and controls Develop and maintain KPIs, OKRs, dashboards, and prepare materials for quarterly business reviews Support equity compensation processing including RSUs, ISOs, Non-Quals, and ESPP, ensuring accurate tax treatment and timely reporting Partner with the Employment Tax team on reconciliation, filings, and compliance Lead payroll process transformation initiatives and systems enhancements Support payroll integration efforts for M&A, Workday enhancements, and new entity setups in the NAMER region Drive a culture of excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement What We Offer: Flexible hybrid work options Comprehensive benefits package Learning and development resources Recognition and reward culture Opportunity to make a meaningful impact at scale Basic Qualifications: 10+ years of progressive payroll experience with a focus on U.S. and Canadian payroll 5+ years of people management experience including managing payroll teams Preferred Qualifications: CPP or FPC certification preferred Deep expertise in federal, state, and provincial payroll tax and labor law compliance Experience in a public company and SOX-compliant environment Experience managing payroll for equity and deferred compensation programs Strong project management, change management, and process optimization skills Experience with ServiceNow or similar case management tools Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, etc.) Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive under pressure Experience leading teams in a hybrid or remote-first environment Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across levels Hands-on experience with ADP (GlobalView, Workforce Now, or Streamline) and Workday HCM Proven track record in managing complex payroll operations, projects, and stakeholders Suggested Skills: People Management Cross Group Collaboration Accountability Culture of Crucial Conversations
