Job Type Full-timeDescriptionFT NOC 6p-6a Rotating Every Other WeekendSUMMARY:Under the general supervision of the Resource Director this position provides quality, professional, nursing care and medical oversight to St. John's Residents.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Nursing: Works closely with physicians to determine appropriate careResponds to and leads emergency situationsCompletes medical records on eldersPerforms record keeping according to policies developed by St. John's United in accordance with State and Federal RegulationsAssists staff when necessaryPromotes the Elder's well-being and satisfaction by supporting elder-centered care while working as a member of the Clinical Support Team. Leadership: Supervises staff in assigned areasCoach, and educate assigned employeesDevelop referral and support relationships with Elders of all care levelsFacilitates appropriate staffing levels and scheduleParticipate in community activities such as serving meals to residents to form relationships with staff and residents and ease burden of front-line staffAssists with process development and Quality Improvement Communication/Reporting: Reports pertinent issues to the Nursing Admin on call. Participates in and receives the nursing report on assigned shiftsManages on call phone while on shift.Maintains inventory of equipmentFacilitates the delivery of equipment/supplies to the area of need. Manipulates schedule to assure all care areas throughout campus have care coverage. Maintains the confidentiality of all Elder care information according to the St. John's Policy on confidentially and Elders Rights Dining Services: Assists in the meal time process, serving coffee, greeting residents, guests, family membersPerforms other duties as necessary to ensure a pleasant atmosphere and timely mealtime for all Safety: Obeys safety rules of St. John's UnitedIdentifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazardsAttends Mandatory safety in-servicesUtilizes proper body mechanics when transferring EldersFollows established policies and procedures when exposed to blood/body fluidsWears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies (i.e. gait belts, mechanical lifts, personal protective equipment) Mission/Customer Service: Supports the growth and actively engages in the Eden Alternative philosophy, including a work environment with plants and animals.Follows the St. John's Guidelines for Customer Service*Let the Mission be your guide*Make eye contact and smile*Greet & welcome each and every person*Seek out personal contact*Provide immediate service-listen & act*Use appropriate body language at all times*Be gracious to each & every personEmployee ResponsibilitiesFollows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.Attends all mandatory in-servicesAttends and participates in scheduled training and educational classes to maintain license in accord with the State of MontanaPerforms other duties as assigned RequirementsREQUIREMENTS: Minimum Requirements: Must be licensed as a CNA in the State of Montana. 2-5 years of experience desired.Knowledge, skills, and abilities required: Ability to understand and express written and verbal communication. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with Elders, family members, coworkers and other clinical support staffAbility to work independently and in a teamAbility to lift and manipulate heavy objectsAbility to understand and follow safety policies and proceduresAbility to use various health care supplies and equipment, including blood pressure devices, thermometers, wheelchairs, lifts, and oxygen suppliers, etc.Ability to understand and to contribute to Elder charts and care plans Ability to relate to and work with the ill, elderly, disabled, emotionally upset, and at times, combative people within the facilityAbility to respond to Elder needs in a timely and professional manner, recognizing the Elder's rightsAbility to deal with stressful situations (i.e. Death and Dying)PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Requires moderate physical work more than 70% of the time, including lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, walking, and bending for prolonged periods of time.WORKING CONDITIONS:Work involves some exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.Work involves some exposure to hazards, bloodborne pathogens, or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.Normal health care environment.Work involves exposure to plants and animals within the environment.
