Shift Differentials: Available for night, weekend, and additional shifts Location: MO-SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital - Lake Saint Louis, MO Must be currently enrolled and starting the 2nd year of a sonography program. Fulfill your calling and be a part of the SSM Team, apply now! Job Summary: Provides ultrasound services to patients within the student scope of practice. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Primary Responsibilities: Prepares and positions patients and selects exposure factors under direct and indirect supervision. Follows safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures. Prepares for and assists the supervising technologists and physicians in a variety of ultrasound procedures that may include pelvic, abdominal, small parts and/or routine vascular examinations. May perform more complex imaging such as deep Doppler and guided interventional procedures such as biopsies and ablations as well as musculoskeletal ultrasound. Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. Records the images and relays a clinical impression as indicated. Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms and any other areas in department. Notifies appropriate staff member of supply needs, equipment malfunction and necessary maintenance. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: Current enrollment in Sonography program Experience: No experience required Physical Requirements: Constant standing and walking. Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more). Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent lifting/moving of patients. Frequent reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry. Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors. Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Rare kneeling and sitting.
