Job Title

Supports and implements supply base strategy for Magna Powertrain North America in assigned commodities. Key Responsibilities: Works with the Strategic Commodity Manager and Operational Purchasing to support the assigned MPT commodity team. Assists in the development and implementation of the commodity strategy in assigned commodities. Manages RFQ's to the supply base according to the commodity strategy to support Operational Purchasing programs (current and new). Evaluates supplier cost structure to obtain best overall value on behalf of MPT. Utilizes a total cost approach to optimizing piece prices for assigned commodities, tactics to include but not limited to bundling, global sourcing, multiple sources/competition, specification changes, process optimization, value analysis/value engineering, logistics, and payment term improvement. Assists MPT divisions in establishing supplier Long Term Agreements and supplier giveback terms for all components assigned to him/her. Works with a cross functional team in support of the assigned commodities, including Program Management, Engineering, Production Control and Logistics, Supplier Quality Development and Quality departments. Coordinates supplier development, consolidation and reduction programs. Liaise with all other MPT divisions, to coordinate cost savings initiatives, and off-shore sourcing for North American component requirements. Leads divisional cost savings initiatives with negotiation, alternate sourcing strategies and qualifying potential suppliers. Within a given commodity, assure purchasing leveraging is optimized by providing oversight of the consolidated buy for all the MPT Divisions. Keep senior MPT management informed of commercial issues through communications and presentations. Other duties as assigned. Requirements and Qualifications: Commodities including but not limited to; Electronics (Motors, ECUs, Sensors, Coils, Wire Harness & Wire, Magnets, etc.) Ability to deliver results. Ability to influence others and gain alignment on direction. Excellent negotiation skills. Must be computer literate and have experience in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. Highly developed time management and follow up skills and the ability to multi-task. Self-starter, excellent people and problem solving skills, strong task ownership and superior work ethic. Must be able to relate & communicate well with people at all levels. Must be very familiar with QS9000, TS16949, and ISO14001 procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills are essential in this role. Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, business or related discipline; Electrical Engineer greatly preferred. Complete additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Work Environment: Office environment; 20% domestic & international travel required. While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
