Locums - GastroenterologyLocation: Urbana, IllinoisFacility: 489 beds, Level I TraumaDepartment: 3 Gastroenterologists, 5 Colorectal SurgeonsSetting: Outpatient Clinic and GI Procedure Lab (70-90% procedure time) Assignment Details
  • Start Date: ASAP (after credentialing, payer enrollment, and Health Attestation completed)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (MAC blocks start at 7:30 AM)
  • Coverage: Full-time; minimum 1 full week per month ongoing
  • Call: None
  • Holiday: Closed on major holidays
  • Patient Mix: 100% Adult and Geriatrics; Mixed Payer
  • Procedures: Outpatient Colonoscopy and EGD required; ERCP and EUS skills preferred but not required
  • Procedure Times: Approx. 30 min colonoscopy, 30 min EGD, 45 min combined EGD/colonoscopy
  • Sedation: Procedure sedation or MAC (moderate sedation anesthesia criteria)
  • Support Staff: 6 full-time & 2 part-time APPs, RNs, CMA/MAs, Surgical Techs
Licenses & Certifications
  • Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology - Required
  • State License:
  • Active Illinois Medical License - Highly Preferred
  • Illinois DEA and Controlled Substance licenses - Highly preferred
  • Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) License Qualification (LOQ) accepted
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, Moderate Sedation - Required Additional Information
    • EMR: Epic
    • Endoscopy Equipment: Olympus scopes
    • Reporting System: Provation (may switch to Lumens in 2026)
    • Clinic vs. Procedure Time: Physicians primarily in endoscopy; clinic consults mostly managed by APPs after initial MD management
    • Reason for Need: Permanent provider departure causing ambulatory and endoscopy coverage shortage
