Locums - GastroenterologyLocation: Urbana, IllinoisFacility: 489 beds, Level I TraumaDepartment: 3 Gastroenterologists, 5 Colorectal SurgeonsSetting: Outpatient Clinic and GI Procedure Lab (70-90% procedure time) Assignment Details Certifications: ACLS, BLS, Moderate Sedation - Required Additional Information
- Start Date: ASAP (after credentialing, payer enrollment, and Health Attestation completed)
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (MAC blocks start at 7:30 AM)
- Coverage: Full-time; minimum 1 full week per month ongoing
- Call: None
- Holiday: Closed on major holidays
- Patient Mix: 100% Adult and Geriatrics; Mixed Payer
- Procedures: Outpatient Colonoscopy and EGD required; ERCP and EUS skills preferred but not required
- Procedure Times: Approx. 30 min colonoscopy, 30 min EGD, 45 min combined EGD/colonoscopy
- Sedation: Procedure sedation or MAC (moderate sedation anesthesia criteria)
- Support Staff: 6 full-time & 2 part-time APPs, RNs, CMA/MAs, Surgical Techs
- Board Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology - Required
- State License:
- Active Illinois Medical License - Highly Preferred
- Illinois DEA and Controlled Substance licenses - Highly preferred
- Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) License Qualification (LOQ) accepted
- EMR: Epic
- Endoscopy Equipment: Olympus scopes
- Reporting System: Provation (may switch to Lumens in 2026)
- Clinic vs. Procedure Time: Physicians primarily in endoscopy; clinic consults mostly managed by APPs after initial MD management
- Reason for Need: Permanent provider departure causing ambulatory and endoscopy coverage shortage
