The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is seeking a passionate, talented, and inventive ML Engineer with a strong machine learning background to develop customization capabilities such as fine-tuning and distillation.

As a ML engineer on the AGI team, you will lead the development of novel Large Language Model (LLM) training techniques and optimizations to advance LLM technology. You will collaborate closely with Applied Scientists and utilize Amazon’s diverse data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate the development of multimodal Large Language Models and Generative AI solutions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility in collaboration with team engineers.
  • Work closely with applied scientists to process data, scale machine learning models, and optimize performance.
  • Contribute to an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software products.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience (non-internship).
  • 5+ years of programming experience in at least one programming language.
  • 5+ years of experience in system design or architecture, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or in leading an engineering team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
