About the role:
We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the team building LangSmith, our fast-growing commercial observability and evaluation platform for LLM applications. In this high-impact role, you’ll be responsible for technical execution and team leadership as we scale the product and company. You’ll work across the stack (Go, Python, React & TypeScript) and collaborate closely with customers and our internal product and design teams to build and ship new product features and functionality. This is an in person role (5 days/week) in San Francisco.
What you will do:
Lead the technical architecture and implementation of key product features for LangSmith working across our entire Go, Python, and Typescript stack
Partner with product and design teams to build new features
Drive aggressive project timelines while ensuring high engineering standards are being met.
Lead by example in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
Work closely with customers to understand their needs and shape the product direction
How to be successful in this role:
Extensive experience i n software engineering ideally working on fullstack, complex platform products
Prior experience building and managing a team of engineers
Strong backend experience with Go and/or Python
Strong frontend experience with React + Typescript
Good understanding of database systems, particularly Postgres and Redis
Experience designing and scaling APIs ideally for high-throughput or data-intensive systems
A “get stuff done” attitude—comfortable shipping fast and iterating based on user feedback
Strong communication skills—able to collaborate with internal stakeholders and engage directly with customers
Ownership mindset with a bias for action and a focus on delivering impact
Bonus: Experience building AI/LLM-powered applications, developer tools, and/or observability platforms
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary and equity commensurate with stage of company, role and level of experience
Annual salary range: $175,000-$200,000 USD
