Role expectations
- Be the primary person responsible to drive vision, roadmap, execution, and adoption of Align's Predictability improvements.
- Define customer profiling and segmentation and coordinate best-practice sharing and implementation through the regional teams.
- Work with the VP Global Product Treatment Planning to develop a clear, consistent, and compelling vision and roadmap for our Predictability vertical.
- Spend time with business owners, external doctors, and internal users.
- Study and familiarize with competition and competitive products.
- Clinical knowledge of dental/orthodontic fields is desired but not required; high proficiency learning will be needed to develop features and products.
- Define what we build based on insights, customer needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape.
- Assist in drafting high-level technical architecture with the R&D team.
- Interface with business owners in marketing, operations, IT, and other functions.
- Define technical product requirements.
- Lead the technical product roadmap.
- Manage the product backlog as the product owner.
- Represent business owners and customers.
- Work under an aggressive timeline.
- Act as an agile product owner.
- Aspire to develop a deeply competitive product.
- Help define User Acceptance Testing scenarios.
What we're looking for
To succeed, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Report directly to the VP, Treatment Planning, based in San Jose, California.
- At least 8 years of experience in software product ideation, definition, and management, demonstrating leadership.
- Desirable but not mandatory: clinical knowledge in dental/orthodontics, which will need to be learned to a high proficiency.
- Experience managing matrix-organized teams.
- Mastery of software engineering and SDLC processes.
- Knowledge in domains like Orthodontics, Dentistry, 3D CAD/CAM, UI/UX, web services, etc.
- Proficiency in agile project management practices.
- Strong understanding of computer science and data processing.
- Excellent technical and leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate technical issues effectively to business users.
- Experience working with regional teams for product releases and insights.
- Ability to plan product rollouts globally, collaborating with internal and regional teams.
- Decisiveness under tight deadlines, using analysis and experience.
- Proven track record of delivering results.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Education
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Sciences or Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of software engineering experience.
- At least 2 years in software product management.
- Experience with 3D CAD/CAM, UI/UX, web services, or related fields for 2+ years.
- Proficiency in Agile project management for 2+ years.
- Deep knowledge of evolving areas in software engineering and technology, including medical devices, 3D data, web systems, security, networking, databases, programming platforms, and operating systems.
- Experience with managing customer expectations through development leadership roles is a plus.
