Position Purpose:
We prioritize the safety of our associates! As a Senior Diesel Mechanic/Technician, you will ensure a safe operation for our team by expertly repairing, maintaining, and overhauling our fleet diesel equipment to meet compliance standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, refrigeration units, and maintenance vehicles with minimal supervision.
- Overhaul and rebuild heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including minor repairs and standard inspections of fleet diesel equipment, and address root causes of failures.
- Inspect and ensure crucial systems like brakes, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings are operating properly and replace parts as needed.
- Maintain required licensing and registration for equipment to ensure roadworthiness.
- Document all work orders and maintenance tasks through our online Enterprise Asset Management system.
- Install, replace, and repair onboard computers.
- Execute routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubrication using hand tools and power tools.
- Provide training and guidance to junior Mechanics.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
5-7 years of demonstrated experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including preventative maintenance (PMs), tire & wheel services, air & air disc brakes, computerized diagnostics, and electrical troubleshooting. A minimum of 2 years of experience in refrigeration and/or in overhauling and rebuilding heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions is required.
