RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director of Special Education and the Principal of the Transitions Center
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of Executive Director Special Education and the Principal of the Transitions Center, the Assistant Principal / Transition Coordinator will provide leadership that includes but is not limited to: administration and management of the SISD Transition Grant/activities and Special Education Programs and those activities adjunct to Special Education. The Assistant Principal / Transition Coordinator will manage Special Education instructional staff including evaluation of special education teachers and special education support staff. The Assistant Principal / Transition Coordinator will also provide supervision and oversight of the School to Work Team including the shared MRS staff. The Assistant Principal / Transition Coordinator ensures that programs and services are operating in compliance with special education rules and are in alignment with the Transition Grant requirements and that student's IEPC's are being correctly and legally implemented. The Assistant Principal / Transition Coordinator will also be responsible for oversight of curriculum as it relates to special education, and oversight of assessment of students relative to Special Education. The Assistant Principal / Transition Coordinator must be fully conversant with the state and federal laws pertaining to special education and transition. Lastly, the Assistant Principal / Transition Coordinator is responsible for providing quality customer service to the staff and public in the school district/building for which they are assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Administrative/Non-Bargaining.
- One (1) Full-time position, 220-day position.
- Salary: $91,310 - $95,933
- Competitive compensation package with salary commensurate with the education and experience of the candidate. A two-year contract with provisions for annual review and evaluation will be offered. A fringe benefit package includes health, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer Special Education Programs and Services as per the Federal, State and ISD Special Education Mandates including, but not limited to:
- Development and review of Curriculum as it relates to Students with Disabilities.
- Develop comprehensive programs and services for Special Education Students aged 0-26.
- Developing and maintaining Special Education Graduation Requirements
- Implementing Transition Requirements for Special Education
- Developing and implementing appropriate pre-referral and referral systems for Special Education.
- Developing needs assessments and in-service training for Special Education and transition.
- Work Collaboratively with Saginaw Michigan Rehabilitation Services office to maintain Cash Match/ ICTA agreement annually.
- Assist the Special Education Teacher in the selection, procurement and dissemination of materials designed for use with students with disabilities.
- Work with local district Assistant Principal / Transition Coordinators and teachers, School to Work staff to develop comprehensive supports, transition resources and professional development.
- Review and Submit Authorizations for School to Work Services provided by STW Job Specialists to Finance Department for reimbursement
- Track and review data based on STW services provided across Saginaw County Schools that include, but not limited to:
- Student referrals
- Job clubs
- Services provided to students
- Local business partnerships
- Coordinate all aspects of the SISD Transition Grant, including but not limited to:
- Submission of all required reporting, including State indicators 13 &14
- Development and implementation of grant goals county-wide.
- Assist the Principal of the Transitions Center with administration of teaching and paraprofessional staff, including evaluation of staff including teacher attendance and adherence to special education law requirements, development of improvement plans, and monitoring of professional development activities.
- Monitor and keep the Principal informed on all special education data, including but not limited to; student attendance, Special Education State Performance Indicator data, Special Education Graduation data, Student attendance data, Suspension and Expulsion data, special education child accounting data, and any data.
- Monitor and keep the Executive Director of Special Education informed on all transition data, resources and training.
- As assigned by the Principal, administer the student code of conduct and discipline of students with disabilities focusing on positive behavioral, social and emotional development. In addition to the above, a system to deal with bullying and harassment will be implemented and administered.
- Provide administrative oversight of the Transitions Center budget and the Transition Grant budget.
- Oversee Individual Educational Plans (IEP's) for students assigned to local district programs and services. This oversight includes attending IEP's, conducting IEP's, ensuring proper implementation of IEP's and procedural issues relative to IEP's.
- Continually monitor and evaluate the Center's Special Education Programs and services for both compliance and quality
- Complete special Education reports required by the Intermediate School District, State Department of Education, and Federal Office of Education, including but not limited to; Membership count information, State Student Record Reports, Federal Special Education Count Day Reports, Special Education Deviations, Special Education Waivers, etc.
- Keep accurate records of professional activities.
- Function as a liaison with the school staff, community agencies and professional organizations regarding special education.
- Attend required conferences and professional development relative to this position and/or as directed by the Executive Director of Special Education.
- Maintain professional competency by attending meetings, in-services, conferences, workshops and participating in professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Masters Degree.
- Administrator certificate or ability to obtain Administrator certificate within three (3) years.
- Full approval in at least one area of Special Education.
- Three years of successful professional practice in Special Education, administrative experience in Special Education, or combination thereof.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others as a team member in a work team environment.
- Ability to meet the needs of the District to which they are assigned and the residents of that district.
