Web Producer / Senior Web Producer

Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach

This announcement is a non-competitive progression position in which candidates may be selected at either NF4B or NF4C based on level of experience. Candidates selected at the NF4B level may progress non-competitively to a Senior Web Producer NF-04 (SC 4C) upon the completion of qualifying requirements; advancement is not permitted with less than 1 year in the current position.

Job Summary

The Web Producer is responsible for supporting the production, deployment, and management of front-end web functionality across our retail website and enterprise web platforms. This involves coding, publishing web pages, and managing site navigation, page layouts, and marketing/merchandising initiatives. The Web Producer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to create seamless, scalable web environments that enhance the user experience and support organizational growth. This position reports to the Manager, Web Experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Day To Day Tactical:

  • Develop and maintain web environments that meet the needs of our cross-channel customers, ensuring scalability and support for organizational growth.
  • Create, edit, and manage web assets, ensuring they align with the overall site strategy and brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate the scheduling and timing of content and promotions on the website to optimize user engagement and sales performance.
  • Participate in testing and quality assurance processes for new web features, ensuring that enhancements are error-free and align with business goals.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of current system capabilities, championing new functionalities and improvements to enhance the web experience.
  • Analyze website performance metrics to identify opportunities for site enhancements, driving continuous improvement in functionality and user engagement.
  • Support the definition, maintenance, and reporting of success metrics for myNavyExchange.com, providing insights that inform strategic decisions.
  • Be available on-call outside regular business hours for critical system issues, emergency fixes, and deployments.
  • Uphold Navy Exchange website standards and guiding principles, ensuring consistent application across all web assets.
  • Serve as a key resource and knowledge base for the Web Production team, providing guidance and expertise in operational duties.

User Experience:

  • Develop and produce interactive web content that delivers a consistent and engaging cross-channel customer experience.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to influence decisions related to navigation, filtering, sorting, and faceting to enhance user experience.
  • Ensure the delivery of a consistent, scalable, and user-friendly end-to-end customer experience across all web platforms.
  • Customize web content to deliver dynamic, personalized experiences based on user behavior, customer segments, and timing.
  • Leverage analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Foresee, and other relevant platforms to inform and implement customer experience strategies.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with web merchandising, digital marketing, and design teams to construct and optimize web pages, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Work effectively with technical, creative, and integrated marketing teams to achieve shared goals and enhance web functionality.
  • Partner with IT teams to provide informed feedback on the design and architecture of new web systems, ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals.
  • Engage with cross-departmental teams, including merchandising, IT, marketing, customer service, and design, to improve site assets and functionality.
  • Contribute to the training and development of the Web Production team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Incumbent may progress non-competitively to a Senior Web Producer NF-04 (SC 4C) upon the completion of qualifying requirements; advancement is not permitted with less than 1 year in current position.

Qualifications

Requires a total of 6 years of experience in any combination as indicated below for the NF4B, Web Producer, as follows. General Experience: Three years of general experience, which was gained in administrative, merchandising, technical, or other responsible work, enabling the applicant to gain knowledge of web production and practices, skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships, and the ability to exercise mature judgment. OR Substitution of Education for Experience: One year of education above the high school level may be substituted for nine months of experience, up to a maximum of a four-year Bachelors degree for three years of general experience. AND Specialized Experience: Minimum three years progressive experience, which provided a background in website production and practices, content management, and metrics analysis; knowledge and understanding of information architecture and web usability; collaboration with various functional teams; or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and ability within the web production operational area. Base experience must include high proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Microsoft Office; Knowledge of website design/layout best practices and industry standards (including 508 compliance, mobile usability, and user experience); and demonstrated experience with e-commerce platforms and systems. Knowledge of Oracle Products (ATG Web Commerce) preferred.

Requires a total of 7 years of experience in any combination as indicated below for the NF4C, Web Producer, as follows. General Experience or Substitution of Education for Experience: Same above AND Specialized Experience: Minimum four years progressive experience which provided background in website production and practices, content management and metrics analysis; knowledge and understanding of information architecture and web usability; collaboration with various functional teams; or similar work which demonstrated the knowledge and ability within the web production operational area. Base experience must include high proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Microsoft Office; Knowledge of website design/layout best practices and industry standards (including 508 compliance, mobile usability, and user experience); and demonstrated experience with Ecommerce platforms and systems. Knowledge of Oracle Products (ATG Web Commerce) preferred.
