Lumen
The Payroll Specialist will report to the Assistant Controller and play an essential role in managing day-to-day accounting tasks related to payroll. This position will handle routine financial transactions, ensure compliance with internal controls, and assist in maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow within the accounting field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *
The major tasks for this position are as follows:
Payroll Processing:
Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring accurate and timely disbursement of employee wages. Maintain payroll records, including employee deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings. Prepare payroll journal entry for month end close. Enter journal entry in NetSuite. Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and assist in resolving any discrepancies.
Maintain organized and accurate financial records, including documentation for payroll. Assist with monthly account reconciliations and support the month-end close process. Prepare basic financial reports and summaries as requested by the Accounting Supervisor. Compliance and Audit Support:
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to payroll. Assist with audit preparation by providing necessary documentation and supporting schedules. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive financial and payroll information.
Process Improvement:
Participate in the implementation of new financial systems, workflows, and processes related to payroll. Suggest and assist in developing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, or a related accounting role. Familiarity with accounting software and proficiency in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office products.

Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines. High level of integrity, ethics, and commitment to confidentiality.
