Full-Time Social Worker (Afterschool Program - Bronx Locations) About New York Junior Tennis & Learning For over fifty years, New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) has honored its founder Arthur Ashe’s legacy by celebrating the diversity of children, encouraging them to reach their highest potential through free tennis and academic programs. NYJTL is the largest provider of youth tennis and education programs in the nation, providing services in 100 unique sites across all five boroughs while reaching nearly 90,000 kids. In addition, NYJTL designed, funded (with NYC), built and operates the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the South Bronx. All NYJTL community tennis and after school programs are offered at no cost to its participants. The mission of NYJTL is to develop the character of young people through tennis and education for a lifetime of success on and off the court. We believe life skills gained through tennis, academics, healthy living, and character development are a catalyst for long-term achievement. Position Summary: NYJTL is seeking a full-time, in-person Social Worker to support afterschool programs at Bronx sites through a combination of direct student services, staff training, and intern supervision. This role includes providing emotional and behavioral support to students, facilitating SEL groups, coaching staff, and leading trauma-informed and restorative practices. The Social Worker will supervise Bronx-based social work interns and split their time between assigned school sites and NYJTL’s Cary Leeds Center. Key Responsibilities: Provide short-term emotional and behavioral support to students during afterschool hours Coach afterschool staff and Site Directors on trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, and SEL strategies Supervise Bronx-based social work interns, including observations, feedback, and weekly reflective supervision Conduct regular site visits to assess program quality and provide on-site consultation during student crises Support family engagement efforts and help develop culturally responsive tools and resources for sites Coordinate with school-day staff and caregivers to ensure continuity of student support Analyze SEL survey data and contribute to ongoing program evaluation Lead and participate in cross-site trainings, group supervision, and learning communities Perform other related duties as assigned to support the mission of NYJTL’s afterschool and mental health programming Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution 2–4 years of experience working with children and youth 1–2 years of experience supervising interns or coaching staff Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning (SEL), and restorative practices Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills Demonstrated cultural humility and experience working with diverse communities Licensed Requirements: New York State LMSW (or a willingness to receive within the first 6 months of employment) SIFI Certification (or a willingness to receive within the first year of employment) Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish preferred) Experience working in school-based or afterschool settings Familiarity with NYC DOE/DOH afterschool programming Location(s): PS 075 X – School of Research and Discovery — 984 Faile Street, Bronx, NY PS 345 X – LION Elementary — 730 Bryant Avenue, Bronx, NY MS 273 X – Frederick Douglass Academy — 2111 Crotona Avenue, Bronx, NY MS 316 X – KAPPA III — 2055 Mapes Avenue, Bronx, NY MS 378 X – ICAHN 2 — 1640 Bronxdale Avenue, Bronx, NY Job Type:
