Join the Defense Group at Leidos as a Software Development Engineer, where you will have the unique opportunity to collaborate with the Joint Staff J6 Joint Assessment Division (JAD) on critical assessment projects. Contribute your skills in system interoperability and data-centric assessments while working alongside expert engineers, analysts, and subject matter specialists. Your primary focus will be enhancing software applications that facilitate data retrieval for time-sensitive analyses.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the complete system engineering life-cycle for software and hardware components related to data collection, encompassing development, testing, and implementation.
Update and optimize the source code for JAD automated tools, such as JWinWAM, DCAAF, and MIG, to align with evolving task requirements.
Collaborate with JAD functional teams and customers to understand operational needs for successful solution design.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or a related field, plus 2 years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with 4 years of experience (consideration for additional experience in lieu of degree).
Must hold a Secret Clearance with the capability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
Proficiency in software development using C, C++, C#, and .NET.
Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022.
Familiarity with database administration, both SQL and NoSQL.
Experience with version control systems, such as Git or SVN.
Ability to parse binary data formats.
Skills in reading and interpreting Interface Control Documents and Data Dictionaries.
Readiness to meet IAT-2 certification requirements within six months of assignment.
Willingness to complete computing environment training within six months of assignment.
Physical capability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Strong professional writing and oral communication skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with SharePoint tools.
Experience in AI/ML applications.
Knowledge of React and/or TypeScript.
Experience with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Understanding of Military Standards (Mil-Std).
Experience in developing GUIs and working with mapping software.
