In this role, you will play a key part in shaping innovative automation systems, including robotic work cells, tooling, and precision positioning equipment. You will lead mechanical design projects from concept through build, testing, and service support, and your expertise will contribute significantly to our mission of advancing customers' fabrication capabilities.

27112 What You'll Be Doing: Lead the mechanical design of custom automation systems, managing complex projects effectively. Develop and document high-quality 3D mechanical designs using advanced CAD software like ProE/Creo and SolidWorks. Perform essential engineering calculations to ensure mechanical performance and safety standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including fabrication, machine build, controls, and project management throughout the project lifecycle. Create and provide technical drawings, mechanical layouts, and comprehensive part documentation for production and procurement. Engage with customers regularly to align on technical requirements and ensure satisfaction. Ensure all mechanical designs comply with project specifications and contracts. Take ownership of smaller projects as Engineering Lead, Designer, and Detailer. Support various teams such as Estimating, Sales, Production, and Service by offering technical insights and solving problems collaboratively. Proactively manage project timelines in a fast-paced environment, typically with project durations of 4-8 weeks. Required Education & Experience: At least 2 years of mechanical design engineering experience, preferably in industrial automation or custom equipment development. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory. Proficiency with 3D CAD software (ProE/Creo and/or SolidWorks is required). Solid understanding of mechanical principles, fabrication methods, and materials is necessary. Basic knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and robotic system integration is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach to problem-solving are essential. Experience in customer-facing technical roles and project collaboration is desirable. Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel), along with project management software is a plus.
