What You’ll Do

As our

Sr. Application Developer & Data Engineer,

you will support state agency operations and development initiatives. This role offers a dynamic opportunity to work with modern integration tools, cloud technologies, and mission-critical data systems that directly impact public services.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining various applications and systems to support our state agency partners. This includes both development and operational support activities such as resolving customer tickets and maintaining system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Application Development : Design and implement applications using MuleSoft APIs, Azure Data Factory, GoAnywhere Managed File Transfer services, and additional cloud ETL services and data pipelines.

Software Development Lifecycle : Participate in all phases of the SDLC, from requirements gathering through to deployment and ongoing maintenance.

Data Pipeline Development : Build and manage efficient, scalable pipelines to collect, process, and store data from diverse sources.

Data Modeling & Architecture : Design robust data models to support efficient analysis, transformation, and manipulation.

System Integration : Integrate systems to enable seamless data flow and interoperability across platforms.

Programming : Develop new application software and enhance existing tools using modern and frameworks.

Testing : Perform thorough unit testing and debugging, validating results and ensuring high quality deliverables.

Customer Support : Triage and resolve customer issues efficiently while providing clear communication and support.

Data Quality & Governance : Implement data quality controls and contribute to governance policies to ensure integrity and compliance.

Project Support : Collaborate with agency teams and vendors, contribute to Agile and SDLC processes, and support planning and execution.

Maintenance & Operations : Monitor and maintain application and system health, resolve issues, and ensure performance optimization.

Documentation : Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation for applications, data flows, and integrations.

Collaboration : Partner with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes and shared understanding.

Compliance : Ensure all development and system activities adhere to relevant state policies and regulatory standards.

Mentorship : Support junior developers and engineers through guidance, knowledge sharing, and collaborative development practices.

Requirements:

What You Bring

Demonstrated experience in application development, system integration, and data pipeline engineering

Proficiency with tools such as MuleSoft, Azure Data Factory, GoAnywhere, and other ETL and data technologies

Strong programming skills and experience across the full software development lifecycle

Experience supporting system operations, monitoring, and customer issue resolution

Proven ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities

Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

Qualifications

Familiarity with Agile project management and state government environments

Experience contributing to or leading development efforts in compliance-heavy settings

Knowledge of data governance best practices and secure data handling
