This position is essential for ensuring equipment reliability, adhering to food safety standards, and minimizing downtime through effective maintenance practices. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance (PM & PdM) on production and utility machinery. Address urgent and routine corrective maintenance needs swiftly to reduce equipment downtime. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and basic control systems including motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatics, actuators, and automated/robotic systems. Handle electrical components such as wiring, plugs, contactors, relays, sensors, and other critical components. Assist in the installation and replacement of electrical components, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and PLC processors. Utilize PLC software (e.g., Allen-Bradley) for initial diagnostics (e.g., fault codes) without making any programming changes. Work closely with Controls Engineers for advanced troubleshooting and programming assistance. Accurately complete and document work orders in the CMMS, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards (e.g., OSHA, USDA, BRC). Interpret and maintain electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and technical manuals. Ensure a clean and safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols such as LOTO and arc flash safety. Be prepared to work in cold environments (including freezers), at heights, or in confined spaces while adhering to PPE requirements. Collaborate with team members to enhance troubleshooting techniques and continuous improvement practices. Engage in additional tasks and special projects as assigned by leadership. Independently pursue learning opportunities and collaborate with peers to enhance skills. Develop a thorough understanding of all manufacturing equipment and processes. EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience (6+ years preferred for senior-level candidates), preferably in food manufacturing or regulated settings. Industrial Maintenance Certification, a 3+ year apprenticeship, or an associate degree in a relevant technical field is preferred. Strong proficiency in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, with knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam systems. Experience working with and repairing 480V 3-phase systems, including motors, drives, and controls. Familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLC systems for diagnostic purposes (programming experience not required). Ability to utilize CMMS tools and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams. Proficient in using electrical testing tools like digital multimeters and ammeters. Good understanding of process control instrumentation including various types of sensors. Ability to follow technical documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, and verbal instructions accurately. Comfortable working in varying temperature environments while adhering to safety protocols. Skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools, with the ability to install conduits correctly. Familiarity with National Electric Code, LOTO procedures, and arc flash safety practices. OSHA 10/30 certification, state electrical license, or journeyman credentials are a plus. Intermediate to advanced computer skills are essential.
