Manager/Associate Director, Antibody Discovery Laboratory
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is launching a new antibody discovery initiative to support translational research and therapeutic development in oncology. We are seeking a Manager or Associate Director to help operationalize and lead the newly established Antibody Discovery Laboratory. The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing display-based discovery workflows using a proprietary nave antibody library and supporting the buildout of a high-functioning lab focused on identifying and characterizing novel binding domains for therapeutic use. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the launch and growth of a cutting-edge discovery platform with established institutional support, dedicated lab space, and downstream integration with GMP manufacturing and clinical programs. Key Responsibilities: Support the buildout and daily operations of the antibody discovery lab, including equipment setup, SOP development, and execution of display-based selection campaigns. Design and carry out binder discovery workflows targeting oncology-relevant antigens using phage and/or yeast display platforms. Perform screening and characterization of hits using ELISA, flow cytometry, affinity measurements, and other relevant analytical tools. Document and present experimental findings, and contribute to candidate triage and transfer for downstream applications (e.g., cell therapy, bispecifics). Collaborate with other research, manufacturing, and clinical teams to support translational development. Help recruit and train junior technical staff and ensure adherence to best practices and compliance standards. Salary range for this position is $39,900-$185,000 annually which includes comprehensive benefits package. Qualifications: Required Education and Experience: M.D. or PhD in an appropriate field; or Master's degree in an appropriate field. Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Protein Engineering, or a related field, and at least 3 years of experience in antibody or protein binder discovery using display technologies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in panning, screening, and binder characterization workflows, along with strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. The ability to work independently while thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment is essential. Experience in therapeutic antibody development and/or immuno-oncology applications is highly desirable. Familiarity with display library construction and developability assessments is a plus, as is a background in translational or GMP-adjacent environments.
