Description Reporting to the Senior Vice President / General Manager, the Lead Data Modeler Engineer is responsible for the architecture, design, development, and deployment of data modeling and reporting capabilities utilizing Microsoft Azure Analysis Services, Azure Databricks, and Microsoft Power BI. The role is part of our Enterprise Data Platform team that manages data ingestion, storage, modeling, and consumption for Acosta and its clients. The Lead Modeling Engineer also ensures the optimization and automation of BI solutions within the platform. This position is a
hybrid
role, open to
anywhere . Candidates are expected to work on-site at least 3 days a week near an Acosta office in Jacksonville, FL; Lewisville (Dallas), TX; Rogers, AR; or Charlotte, NC. Note: This position does not support Visa Sponsorship. Responsibilities Develop complex Azure Analysis Services (AAS) Tabular models with large datasets and advanced business logic. Create efficient views in Azure Databricks to support AAS models. Collaborate with project teams in Agile and Waterfall settings to deliver solutions on time. Monitor, tune, and optimize AAS and Power BI models. Mentor junior and senior data modelers in optimization and automation techniques. Research and prototype emerging technologies to enhance BI solutions. Continuously develop personal BI, modeling, and data skills. Automate data refreshes and manage AAS resources. Develop new Power BI reports and enhance existing ones. Understand and analyze the data models' implications beyond numbers, extracting actionable insights. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. Microsoft Certification: Data Analyst Associate, MCSA BI Reporting, Azure Data Engineer Associate. 10+ years of related work experience. 7+ years in Microsoft SSAS, AAS, and data warehouse design. 5+ years in data analytics and report development, including Power BI, M Query, and DAX. Experience with Azure Databricks ETL tools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Expertise in Power BI, including performance optimization and large models. Strong understanding of RDBMS foundations and best practices. Advanced skills in AAS (or SSAS) modeling and management. Proficiency with Azure Databricks workspace and tools. Problem-solving and debugging skills. Effective communication skills.
