General Summary: Michigan Medicine is a groundbreaking organization for many reasons, and much of the work that we do is made possible because of philanthropy. Annually, the Michigan Medicine Office of Development raises an average of $200 million, which helps us to be a change agent in the world. As the Regional Major Gifts Officer Intermediate, you play a key role in guiding the fundraising results of the Regional Network, at University of Michigan Health-West and University of Michigan Health-Sparrow. Working collaboratively with the team to achieve fundraising goals, with a focus on individual donor support. Reporting to the Managing Director, Regional Network Development, the Regional Major Gifts Officer Intermediate will manage a portfolio of major gifts and planned giving prospects, cultivating and soliciting gifts that align with UM Health Regional Network strategic priorities. Your efforts will directly support the institutions mission to enhance healthcare in the West and Mid-Michigan community. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor's degree required. At least five years of experience or equivalent in non-profit development, preferably direct fundraising, and some interaction with corporate and foundation relations in a health system environment. Ability to apply research tools to understand a funding landscape and inform strategy. Excellent communication (verbal and written) and analytical skills. Demonstrated problem solving and leadership ability as well as comfort managing up. Ability to create collaborations across stakeholder groups. Ability to manage multiple priorities and time-sensitive requests. Excellent analytical skills and sound judgement. Ability to work in a complex matrix environment with finesse, tact, and appreciation for differences among stakeholders and colleagues. Candidate must have reliable internet when working remotely. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Work closely with the managing director to develop and implement successful capital campaigns and strategic plans. Develops and manages a robust major gift portfolio focused on acquiring and retaining individual donors. Build and manage a major gift portfolio of 125-150 prospective and existing donors. Focus on 85-120 face-to-face significant visits with individual donors (significant visits include Zoom, phone, email, and text). Identify top individual prospects and plan individual donor solicitation strategies for each. Document engagement activity and manage 15-25 annual asks, closing at least 10-20 gifts annually. Cultivate a portfolio of prospects capable of making special gifts ($25,000+), develop individual strategies, and solicit gifts, matching their interests to needs. Maintain donor commitments through regular cultivation and stewardship to ensure they remain connected to and confident in their investments in UM Health-West and UM Health-Sparrow. Keep them informed of the outcomes of their gifts and other key investments and opportunities being addressed by the health system. Travel to meet individual donors, emphasizing at least 10 monthly personal visits. Utilize technology, tools, and resources as needed to help achieve goals. Engage UM Health-West & UM Health-Sparrow executives and clinical leaders as prospect identification and solicitation resources to create thoughtful and fundamentally sound development plans, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. Attend events and activities as directed to support the achievement of all Regional Network Development goals. Serves as an ambassador, raising the visibility of Regional Network Development by representing the Foundation(s) positively at external community activities while identifying donor prospects and supporting donor stewardship. Actively uses the Raiser's Edge database to track and report on activities and outcomes. Continually enrich professional skills, including the understanding of tax laws related to charitable giving, by attending workshops, seminars, conferences and through professional reading
